Billy Elliot the Musical is based on the 2000 film Billy Elliot. The music is by Elton John, and the book and lyrics are by Lee Hall, who wrote the film's screenplay

The plot revolves around motherless Billy, who trades boxing gloves for ballet shoes. The story of his personal struggle and fulfillment are balanced against a counter-story of family and community strife caused by the UK miners' strike in County Durham, in North Eastern England

Hall's screenplay was inspired in part by A. J. Cronin's 1935 novel about a miners' strike, The Stars Look Down, to which the musical's opening song pays homage

From May 7, 2017 through January 21, 2018 the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University will host Thomas Kegler: Painting Niagara.

Harkening back to the Hudson River School of painting, artist and educator Thomas Kegler will lend his Niagara, Psalms 84:11, an eight foot panoramic painting of the Horseshoe Falls of Niagara. The quiet and contemplative works in this exhibition include 15 plein air paintings and related studies as well as works from the Castellani Art Museum collection.

Excerpts from the most comprehensive instructional documentary video ever made on the landscape painting techniques of “indirect painting” used by the old masters will also be included in the exhibition. This ground-breaking film presents the creation of Niagara, Psalms 84:11 over a period of two years.

Over 40 drawings and paintings laid the groundwork in preparation for this expansive work.   Niagara, Psalms 84:11 endeavors to share the beauty of one of the world’s great natural wonders while evoking awareness and concern for the fragility of our natural environment.

A presentation by Kegler, Buffalo/Niagara Riverkeepers and the WNY Land Conservancy is being planned for fall 2017.

Reception is May 7th from 2pm-4pm

    Ride for Children's Hospital

Noon: Meet - Donation: One NEW stuffed animal

12:30 - 2 or 3 undetermined locations as of yet

This a no drama no hassle ride that all are welcome to

Last year we have donated 361 new stuff animals for the nurses to give as they see fit, such as a crying child in the middle of the night or a child whose parents just can't afford to bring them something, as medical bills are so expensive. Let's see if we can break 400 this year! We do not accept cash. Just a new stuffed animal because the hospital can't accept used due to the germ factor and the sick kids. We look forward to see you all there
